Surviving the Tornado

Many of you might have noticed that our BLOG wasn't updated for an extended period of time from May thru July. We apologize for that as well as falling behind in our cinematic editing process. Our town was hit and devastated with a tornado on May 8th.

Although our family, our office, and all production jobs were fine, we had property damage at our location, as well as our immediate family members. Our main vehicle also had terrible damage. Plus, to make matters worse, our entire town lost power for a week or more. We learned how to survive with just the basics. Any hope for editing or working again in the office for the next couple of weeks was lost.

Finally, after getting back to a little bit of normality, three weeks later, a terrible lightning storm struck while we weren't in our office. This time our main laptop, the backup hard drive and modem, with all the BLOG information and clips, were destroyed.

Our BLOG suddenly became stuck in limbo...until now. A new laptop was purchased, older clips have been restored, updates have been made, and new clips have been added. In addition to that, we are working overtime to try and get back on schedule with our existing clients. Life has almost returned back to normal.

Our Current Editing Schedules as of 8/6/2009

To share with our clients an idea of where they fall within the postproduction process, we have posted our editing queues, which are updated only when a change of status occurs.

Missy and Chad's Same Day Edit (SDE)

On Saturday, May 16th, we did a Same Day Edit for Missy and Chad's wedding day. We especially looked forward to capturing their day because they were both apart of a previous wedding and same day edit a couple years earlier. Video was important to them and they knew a same day edit was exactly what they wanted when we booked them.

The wedding was held at Main Street United Methodist Church in Alton, Illinois. Once the ceremony ended we were off to Mineral Springs Mall, located downtown, to begin the editing process for a presentation later that evening. Before the first dance, we were to debut their video to a packed room of expectant guests. Kudos go out once again to our friend Jason Clyde, of Millenium Music, who coordinates closely with our presentations and the timing. He is by far one of the best DJ's in the St. Louis Market and at the top of my recommendation list.

So without furher ado, here is that Same Day Edit we presented during the reception.

St. Louis Bride and Groom Show a Success! (Updated)

We would like to thank all the Brides who took the time and stopped by our booth at the show! There were many of you we didn't get to talk to personally as it was busy during peak times at the show each day from 11:30 to 1 PM. Hopefully you had a chance to view our cinematic highlight that we gave out.

We have already booked 4 dates from this show with continued high interest from phone calls and emails for this fall. I can now share our May, June, and August weekends are almost completely full, with 3 out of 4 weekends booked for each of those months!

We would like to thank Kevin and Linda Hennessey that put on the bi-annual St. Louis Bride and Groom Show. They run a great fashion show, organize the events and the booths, and deserve a lot of credit for a successful weekend! We have never been a part of a smoother event.

We also saw our close friend, Roseanna Gieselmann, of Always and Forever Event Planning and Design. She was actually helping the fellows at Artisty Florist and Event Design throughout the weekend. Those guys create some of the most beautiful floral arrangements and bridal bouquets we’ve ever seen. Our absolute favorite DJ to work with, Jason, from Millenium Music, was also there, busy manning his booth!

We also would like to mention we had great "Vendor Neighbors" as well. Karen from Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, and Alicia, from AHotPhoto, some of our long hours go by quickly with their friendly presence!

With all the talk of the economy in a tailspin, Chuck and I both feel very blessed and fortunate to continue receiving all the interest and bookings this 2009. We hope this positive trend continues!

Nicole and Chris's Same Day Edit (SDE)

Nikki and Chris had a beautiful, autumn wedding on September 13th. The mid-afternoon, ceremony was at Webster Groves Presbyterian Church. A little later on, the reception began at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown Clayton. It was decorated beautifully, from the ice sculpture, to the flowers, to the tables in the ballroom.

Our good friend and wedding coordinator, Roseanna Gieselmann, pulled off another flawless event of this fast paced day! If you don't have a coordinator yet, please visit her link to the right side of this BLOG to inquire about her services.

Later in the evening after dinner, we were able to show their Same Day Edit to their guests. It appeared most of the guests were surprised at what they watching, expecting just another photo montage. Instead, it was an SDE of events that occurred just a few hours earlier.

Thank you again Nikki and Chris for having us be a part of your special day and sharing a highlight with your friends and family!

Here again is their Same Day Edit!

Jamie and Bobby's Wedding Trailer

We enjoyed capturing Jamie and Bobby's wedding day on the unique date of Friday, August 8, 2008, or (08/08/08). Jamie and her family have been really close friends of our family for many, many years so that made this celebration even more special.

This was also a rare occasion for us to actually know the couple, as well as the photographer, the creative and talented Missy Clark of Clark Studio . This made our work day a little less stressful and more enjoyable. If you are getting married soon take a cue from Jamie and Bobby and just relax a little, stop and smell the roses, and enjoy your day without trying to rush everything along and be in a hurry.

Here is their wedding day trailer which has been edited in a reflective, dreamy style.

Megan and Brad's Same Day Edit (SDE)

St. John's Gildehaus Catholic Church in Villa Ridge was the site of Megan and Brad's wedding last Saturday, July 19th. St. John's 'Gildehaus', as it is known locally, was founded in 1839 as a mission by the Jesuit Fathers. It received the 'Gildehaus' name to honor John Dietrich Gildehaus and his wife Anna Clara, who in 1848 donated the original property.

Although the day was very humid with lots of sunshine, Megan and Brad had a beautiful day surrounded by many, many friends and family. You could see they had a fun-filled time, as we captured some amazing footage to incorporate into their final edit.

Their surprise SDE from that evening has just a sampling of some of those great shots.

Finally, I want to add it was a pleasure working with Bibi, Vlatko, and Mary, (again), from Trotter Photo. They allowed us the extra time needed to capture those important shots for the SDE.

Jessica and Andrew's Wedding Trailer

The Piper Palm House, located at Tower Grove Park, in St. Louis, Missouri, was a location we have filmed at many times. If you have not been there, you wouldn't know that it was constructed in 1878 and is the oldest standing greenhouse west of the Mississippi River. It was built to house the park's beautiful, ornamental tropical plants. So you can imagine this time of year, that the Palm House would have colorful details to enhance the wedding day.

On Saturday, July 5th, we had the privilege of working there again and covering the wedding day of Jessica and Andrew. It was obvious that these two people were very much in love. They were both very bubbly and so excited that their special day had finally arrived. Jessica's twin sister, Jamie, the matron of honor, also assisted in making our pre-ceremony shooting go smoothly and was a pleasure to be around all morning.

We also had a fun day working with one of our favorite photographers in the St. Louis area, Bill, from Trotter Photography. Bill is a joy to work with and takes some fabulous pictures as well!

Here is their wedding day trailer.

Stephanie and Greg's Same Day Edit (SDE)

This past Saturday, we were fortunate enough to capture Stephanie and Greg's wedding day. They were a very nice couple to work with. The wedding was at St. Francis Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis, Illinois and the reception was at the Thelma Keller Convention Center in Effingham. Here is the Same Day Edit we presented during the reception. It was captured in high definition. The guests were very surprised when this video started to play following Stephanie and Greg’s “growing up” montage. Stephanie had previously seen a Same Day Edit at another wedding that was created by Scott Brooks, who is also a great Photographer and Videographer, in the Southern Illinois area. They wanted a surprise presentation for their guests, so only a few knew about the SDE in advance.

Stephanie and Greg's wedding day went very well and we enjoyed working with them to create memories for years to come.
